Dan Goltz of Winona was recognized Tuesday at the County Board of Commissioner’s meeting for having been awarded the Joe Strub Memorial Award.
The award was given to Goltz by the Association of Minnesota Emergency Managers for his contributions to the field of emergency management.
Todd Shea, the National Weather service’s warning coordination meteorologist, told the board Goltz is a valuable volunteer who makes a difference.
Goltz, who has served as a deputy or assistant to Emergency Management in Winona County for years, thanked everyone and said it takes a team effort to keep people safe during dangerous storms.
Goltz, who owns Goltz Pharmacy with his wife Nancy, has been very active with coordination and storm spotter organization, attending the "Train the Trainer" program and teaching numerous spotter classes in his area.
