Steve Baumgart will officially be sworn in as Goodview's mayor at the beginning of the city council's 5:00 p.m. meeting at the Goodview office. Baumgart will take over for longtime mayor Jack Weimerskirsch who retired last month after 22 years in the position. Incumbent councilmember Sandy Erdmann and newcomer Charlie Andring, who were both elected in November to four-year terms, will also be sworn in.
During the regular meeting that follows, the council will continue its discussions about extending city utilities to the 63rd Avenue and Fifth Street areas. The council will also hear an update on the project to install sidewalks on some of the streets in the area of the Goodview school under the Safe Rides to School grant.
Winona's new mayor Mark Peterson will also be sworn in at 7:30 p.m. Monday at City Hall during the City Council's first meeting of the new year.
