Hammer Attack-Sentence

A jealous husband convicted of fatally attacking a man with a hammer in southern Minnesota has been sentenced to 33 years in prison.

Brian Freeman also injured his estranged wife and her two daughters in the assault at a Blue Earth home in February 2012. The 30 year old Ceylon man had earlier pleaded guilty to second degree intentional murder and three counts of first degree assault.

A criminal complaint says Freeman was wearing a mask when he entered the home and killed 37 year old Christopher Fulmer. He also hit his wife, Candice Freeman, and her two teenage daughters, before calling 911.  Freeman's wife and the teens suffered life-threatening injuries, including multiple skull fractures.

The Free Press  says Freeman must also serve about 16 years under a supervised release program and pay nearly $17,000 in restitution.
