Minnesota added 6800 jobs in July, according to figures released by the Department of Employment and Economic Development.
The agency said the unemployment rate climbed 0.2% to a seasonally adjusted 5.8%, staying well below the US rate of 8.3%. The July job growth, combined with a June revised downward growth of 4200 new jobs, means the state has added 30,000 private sector jobs in the past year.
DEED Commissioner Mark Phillips said that growth, along with increasing vacancies and record high job postings online, continue to point to sustained demand for labor in Minnesota.
