A search is underway to find a new district judge to be chambered in Fillmore County. Judge Robert Benson has announced he will retire on March 31st.
Benson, who is 67 years old, has been serving the Third Judicial District since 1996 and has been the 11 county district's chief judge since 2009. Benson is also a former Fillmore County attorney.
His replacement will be appointed by Governor Mark Dayton after he receives a recommendation from the Minnesota Commission of Judicial Selection.
That commission is currently accepting applications for the judgeship. Applications are due by March 25th. Interviews will be held on April 7th at the Fillmore County Courthouse in Preston.
