Legislative Adjournment

Local Republican lawmakers are reacting to the legislative session that came to a close Monday night.
Representative Steve Drazkowski predicts tough times ahead for some residents with the final state budget that calls for over $2 billion in additional taxes.  Representative Greg Davids gave the session mixed reviews. He said his party was successful in stopping an $800 million bonding bill and replacing it with a smaller one.

Drazkowski said Republicans were also successful in turning back a minimum wage increase and gun control legislation, along with an anti- bullying bill, which, he said, would have cost an additional $50 million in property taxes because it would have been an unfunded mandate to school districts.
