Lock and Dam 5A Statistics

There were more than 3-thousand, 300 lockages at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District's Lock and Dam 5A, near Fountain City during the 2012 navigation season.

The total lockages, 3,327, included 1,246 from commercial navigation; 2,035 recreational boat lockages and 46 additional lockages from government watercraft or a similar group.

The commercial navigation industry transported just over 7,660,000 tons of commodities through the lock during the season. That was almost a 4,000,000 ton increase over the previous year's total.

The 2012 season ended when the Motor Vessel Show Me State was locked through Lock and Dam 2, near Hastings on November 28th. The season opened last year on March 17.
