The Mayo Clinic has received a $67,000,000 donation from a Wisconsin couple, the Clinic says is one of the largest gifts it has ever received.
The Post-Bulletin reports the funds came from Robert and Patricia Kern of Waukesha, Wisconsin, and will fund the newly-named Robert D. and Patricia E. Kern Center for the Science of Health Care Delivery.
That brings to a total of $100,000,000 that the Kerns have donated to the Mayo Clinic over the years including $20,000,000 previously given to launch the center and $13,000,000 toward neuroscience research and education.
The paper says the Kerns are the founders of Generac Power Systems.
Mayo C-E-O John Noseworthy said the fund will enable the expansion of the clinic's ability to share what it learns in Rochester with hospitals, clinics and nursing homes across the country and will be used to endow five scientific-director positions.....
