Wisconsin milk production increased 3% to 2.4 billion pounds last month while the number of licensed dairy herds dipped by 73 herds to just over 11,000 according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

The state's count of dairy herds dropped by 614 herds over the past year while milk production remained solidly in second place behind California.
