Officers Assaulted

Winona Police said a 20-year-old Winona man was jailed early Saturday after he allegedly attacked three police officers who were trying to wake him up.

Deputy Police Chief Tom Williams said a homeowner called police just before 3:00 a.m. Saturday to report someone sleeping on the outside porch.

As officers tried to arouse the man, identified as Jeffrey John Raab,  Raab began to scuffle with the officers.

Williams said one officer went through a window and another got his leg caught in a bicycle.

Neither officer was seriously injured.

Raab was initially charged with fourth degree assault on a police officer and minor consumption. The case is being reviewed by the county attorney's office.
