Overdose Sentence



A 27-year-old La Crosse woman was sentenced in Trempealeau County Circuit Court to five years in prison in connection with the heroin overdose death of a Trempealeau man.

The Trempealeau County Times reports Tasha Kempfer was also sentenced to an additional five years of extended supervision and must pay about $4,500 in fines and court costs.

Kempfer was one of two people sentenced in the death of Jeremiah Harris in July of 2011.

Also sentenced earlier was 45-year-old Michelle Johnson who received a two-year probation after a two-year prison term was stayed,

The two were accused of supplying the heroin that killed Harris in Trempealeau.

The two were sentenced on charges conspiracy to manufacture or deliver heroin, reduced from reckless homicide charges......
