Last month, Marine Joshua Ploetz, a Veteran suffering from Post Traumatic Stress, started on a journey on the the great Mississippi River for 64 days as he covers over 2,000 miles of river in his single man canoe.
Ploetz, a 2002 St. Charles High School graduate, aims to promote awareness of Post Traumatic Stress and raise money to help those who have lost a veteran due to Post Traumatic and Combat stress.
Throughout his journey, dubbed "Paddle Off The War", Ploetz will carry with him "The Baton", a handle cut from a stretcher used to aid service members serving in Afghanistan.
Ploetz, who is using a Wenonah Canoe, has been taking a break this week in Winona and will start his journey again Sunday. He is scheduled to arrive in Venice, Louisiana on August 1st.
