Pelowski--Dayton

State Representative Gene Pelowski says he had a one hour meeting with Governor Mark Dayton Tuesday and the two talked about higher education issues.

Pelowski told Winona Radio News Dayton admitted it's not likely legislators will approve Dayton's budget proposal that raises a projected $3.7 billion in new revenue.

Pelowski said he suggested new revenue should go to help lower tuition.  Pelowski said any new revenue for higher ed could end up going into the state's grant program or to lowering tuition.

Meanwhile, Pelowski's Higher Ed Finance and Policy Committee is continuing to hold hearings on the Minnesota State College and Universities' spending policies after hearing from the University of Minnesota earlier in the session.
