Purple Caucus

Two Minnesota State senators from opposite parties have announced the creation of a new bipartisan "Purple Caucus."

Republican Jeremy Miller of Winona has partnered with Democrat Roger Reinert of Duluth in an effort to get lawmakers to focus more on the status of Minnesota rather than their individual parties.

Miller said he has become frustrated with the continued partisanship at the state capital which he believes has gotten worse this session.....

Purple comes from the combination of "red" for Republicans and" blue" for Democrats.

Miller said the caucus is open to any lawmaker who is willing to place their status as a Minnesotan above their individual party lable.

The two senators hope to end what the public has come to view as an unproductive style of discourse at the Capitol.
