River Refuge-Shutdown

Things are back to normal on the Upper Mississippi River National Fish and Wildlife Refuge following the end of the federal government shutdown last week.

Winona District Manager Mary Stefanski said the shutdown caused the closure of a number of boat landings in the Winona area and that impacted hundreds of hunters who were not aware of the landings were closed.

Stefanski said the shutdown also impacted the normal local education programs put on by Ed Lagace, who said an estimated 750 people were unable to participate in his programs during the closure.
All of the boat landings, which are under the federal government, have been reopened.....
