River Search-Body Recovered



Authorities said the body of an 88-year-old Stockton man who fell into the Mississippi River backwaters on Friday was pulled from the river Saturday afternoon.             

Winona County Sheriff Dave Brand said the body of Robert Lester Duncanson was discovered about 3:00 p.m. Saturday on the second day the search continued.

Duncanson had been fishing from a canoe Friday morning and got to close to the Prairie Island spillway where the canoe overturned in the churning waters.

Crews from as many as five different agencies, and as many as 30 people, aided in the search.
