SEMCAC Assistance

Minnesota's low income heating assistance program will be extended almost two months thanks to the legislature's action last week to add $20,000,000 more to the program.

SEMCAC, which administers the program locally can now increase its assistance from $500 to $1,000 per recipient.
Wayne Stenberg, SEMCAC Director, told the Winona County Board that Governor Mark Dayton also raised the median income level to qualify for the assistance making more people eligible.

Stenberg said the additional money will mean SEMCAC can help out an additional 1,500 people in its service area...especially those facing high propane heating bills because of high L-P prices.
Anyone needing the assistance should contact SEMCAC.....
