Said-McNight Foundation Award
Not only was she recently honored at the White House for her work with immigrants and refugees, local resident Fatima Said has also been given a second honor.
Said, who works with Project FINE in Winona County, has also been named a winner of the Virginia McNight Binger Award by the McNight Foundation.
The annual award, given to six people this year, comes with a $10,000 award which Fatima said she will use for Project Fine.
She recently returned from her visit to the White House and told a Winona Radio audience she was able to provide information to the "Welcoming America" organization about Project FINE, and just what it does that has attracted national attention.
Fatima says she is not finished with her national recognition. In November she will speak at a national conference for immigrants and refugees.
Fatima and her family moved to Winona about 20 years ago as refugees and since then has been working with Project FINE to provide services for new refugees.....
