Trucks hauling dredged river sand from a federal shoreline deposit site by Alma Beach Park and marina might hit the roads by next week.
The Army Corps of Engineers intends to dredge and deposit 500,000 cubic yards of sand at the Alma site where trucks will load and haul sand for fill disposal at landowner sites in Belvidere and rural Nelson.
Hoffman Construction Company of Black River Falls, Wis., was contracted to handle hauling and grading of sand at project disposal sites.
The company normally plans to truck 30 loads per hour from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays using local Beach Harbor Road to access State Highway 35 on Alma's north end.
Trucking of sand was predicted to carry on into November. It wasn't clear last week which disposal site would go first.
