WSU Track Recruits


The Winona State University track and field team has announced the addition of six athletes for the 2017-18 season. 

WSU Volleyball


#6 Winona State (27-6) hung with the number one team in the nation Concordia St. Paul (30-2) before falling 16-25, 11-25, 25-21, 22-25 in four sets.

All State Football Selections


Two Winona High Winhawks have been selected to the Associated Press All State Football squad.

Winona State University kicker Carter McCauley has been named CoSIDA Academic First Team All-American. 

WSU-Larsen


Winona StateUniversity's McKenna Larsen was named AVCA Central Region All-Region Team on Wednesday.

WSU Black Katts


The Winona State University Women's Rugby team, the Black Katts, will compete during The National Final Four on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 5-6, in Greenville, S.C. 

WSU Basketball


Winona State (3-1) used 19 points from both Kyle Bauman and Riley Bambenek on Saturday afternoon to defeat Carson-Newman 73-69 in the third place game at the 2016 Hampton Inn Thanksgiving Tournament. 

Winhawk Welcome Back!


Win or lose on Friday the Winona High Winhawks football team will be welcomed back Friday night when they return from Minneapolis. The special welcome is scheduled to take place at 9:30 p.m. in the Senior High gym but the starting time is flexible...

WSU Volleyball


For the first time in program history the Winona State volleyball team is headed to the NCAA Division Two Tournament. The Warriors will be the five seed in the very deep Central Region, where they will meet Minnesota Duluth in the first round.

The Winona State Warriors (2-0) took on the St. Mary's Cardinals in the 89th overall meeting between the neighboring schools Monday. 

WSU Recruits


The Winona State softball team is excited to announce the signing of six athletes for the 2018 season. Jen Giesey, Carly Kordich, Kristiana Ahlers, Ann Smolenski, Rylee Stout, and Rina Niehoff all joined the Warrior family on Wednesday.

The Winona State women's basketball team topped Maryville University behind the 23 point performance from Tara Roelofs.
 
 

WSU Volleyball


#6 Winona State (26-5) fell to #1 Concordia-St. Paul (28-2) on Saturday, exiting the NSIC semifinals in straight sets 25-17, 25-24, 25-20. The Warriors were unable to slow down the Golden Bears who hit .345 in the win.

The Winona State University baseball team will be adding eight student-athletes to the 2017-18 roster.

The Winona State Warriors had 11 football players named to the 2016 NSIC All-Conference Team.

Winona State University Golf Coach Jeff Straight has announced the signing of two golfers who will be joining the Warriors in 2017.

Four Winona High School swimmers will be heading to the girls Minnesota state high school swimming and diving championships starting Thursday.

Winona High had 9 players selected for the All-District football team. Plus head coach John Cassellius was selected as the Blue Division coach of the year.

The Winona State women's basketball team was able to top University of Puerto Rico-Bayamon (UPRB) 71-67 to wrap up their trip to Puerto Rico.

WSU Volleyball


The #5 regionally ranked Winona State University volleyball team had five players earn NSIC All-Conference Honors on Thursday. Taylor Goar, McKenna Larsen and Danielle Rampart were all named to the First Team. 

WSU Signs Two


The Winona State men's basketball program announceed the additions of Devin Whitelow and Kevion Taylor. The two signed letters of intent on Wednesday and will join the Warriors for the 2017-18 campaign.

Winhawks Tickets and Fan Bus


Tickets are now on sale for the Winona High Winhawk football game Friday against South St. Paul. The Winhawks tangle with the Packers at 7:00 p.m. Friday at Eastridge High school in Woodbury in the Class 4-A quarterfinals.

WSU Basketball


In their final exhibition before the start of the regular season, the Winona State Warriors took on the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire BluGolds in Talbot gymnasium Monday night.

The Winona State Warriors (7-3, 4-2 NSIC South) took home the BiG Sledge with a 42-27 win over the Southwest Minnesota State Mustangs (5-5, 2-4 NSIC South) in the second annual Battle of the Sledge game Saturday in Winona.

Warriors kicker Carter McCauley was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic Super Region 3 All-District™ Football Team on Thursday.

In their first of two exhibition games to start the season the Winona State Warriors hosted the Carroll Pioneers. Winona State overcame a turnover plagued first half to defeat Carroll 69-56.

Williams-Cotter Cross Country


Eighth-grader Aubrey Williams of the Cotter High School cross country squad finished seventh at the MSHSL Section 1A meet at Northern Hills Golf Course to qualify for state and reach a goal two years in the making.            

Vikings Turner Quits


Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator Norv Turner has resigned. He's been replaced on an interim basis by Pat Shurmur. The Vikings announced the news on Wednesday, two days after their second consecutive defeat.

WINONA STATE FOOTBALL
The Winona State Warriors (6-3, 3-2 NSIC South) traveled to Sioux Falls for their final road game of the year to take on NSIC South foe Augustana Vikings (6-3, 3-2 South). The Vikings got the edge over the Warriors, winning the defensive battle 21-20.

 

WSU Football


The Winona State Warriors (6-2, 3-1 NSIC South) traveled to Nebraska and secured their third straight road victory of the season, beating NSIC South foe Wayne State Wildcats (3-5, 2-2 NSIC South) 41-20. 

WSU Volleyball


Winona State (20-3, 11-3 NSIC) picked up their fifth straight win and 20th of the season on Saturday, beating MSU-Moorhead 25-16, 27-25, 25-17. Danielle Rampart had ten kills to lead the Winona State offense.  

WSU Soccer


Winona State (7-7-1, 4-7-1 NSIC) scored early and went on to win 2-0 over MSU-Moorhead (3-11, 2-10 NSIC) on Saturday afternoon. The Warriors outshot the Dragons 24-5 in the match.   

Try Lacrosse Day


Here's a chance for boys and girls to try out the sport of Lacrosse. The Winona HAWKS LaCrosse Club will host TRY LACROSSE DAY on Saturday, Oct 22nd  from 1pm - 4pm at the soccer fields by the Lake Winona Bandshell.

Volley For A Cure


Hope Lutheran High School recently held VOLLEY FOR A CURE. They raised over $200 for cancer research!!

The Winona State Warriors (5-2, 2-1) fell to NSIC South foe #6 Sioux Falls Cougars (7-0, 3-0) on homecoming Saturday.

Winona State (17-3, 8-3 NSIC) picked up their second straight win over a top-ten opponent with a dramatic 3-2 win over #6 Augustana (18-3, 9-2 NSIC). It was the Warriors second win over the Vikings this season.

The Winona State Warriors (5-1, 2-0 NSIC South) went on the road this week looking to spoil their second straight opposing Homecoming, this time versus the Upper Iowa Peacocks (1-5, 0-2 NSIC South).

WSU Women's Cross Country


The Winona State women's cross country team won their second meet this season as they took home first place with three top ten finishers at the Bob Waxlax Invitational.

The Winona State men's cross country team took second place at the Bob Waxlax Invitational, the team average was just 13 seconds behind that of meet winners, Minnesota State, Mankato.

Junior kicker Carter McCauley helped the Winona State Warriors (4-1, 1-0 NSIC South) pull off a 34-31 upset over #19 ranked Minnesota State Mankato (3-2, 0-1 NSIC South) Saturday, hitting a 29-yard field goal as time expired.

Once again the Saint Mary's University fastpitch softball team is planning new scares for this year's "Walk of Horror."            

Cotter Boy Soccer


Cotter boys soccer team started fast with senior Sam Young picking up his first goal of the season off a pass from senior Daniel Cardenas-Suarez in the 2nd minute Tuesday night as the Ramblers downed Caledonia 3-0.            

WSU Black Katts


After a competitive opening to the 2016-17 season of DII women’s rugby, the Winona State University Black Katts have earned a spot at #2 in the nation.

Volleyball Winona State (11-1, 2-1 NSIC) was held to .091 hitting on Tuesday night, their second lowest percentage of the season, but still came away with a 3-1 victory at Upper Iowa (6-6, 0-3 NSIC).

The high school football season kicked off in Wisconsin Thursday night. Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau opened with a 30-to-8 win over Mondovi in Galesville.

Winona State University's women's volleyball team has been ranked nationally in a pre-season poll for the first time in program history.

Heath-Olympic Trials


Winona High school graduate Garrett Heath will take part in the Olympic Trials in Eugene, Oregon, next Monday, July 4th as he attempts to qualify for the Rio Olympics. 

Wild Players in Winona


The Minnesota Wild's annual Summer Road Tour makes a stop in Winona Thursday. The event starts at 3:30 in the afternoon at the Bud King Ice Arena at the foot of St. Charles Street. 

Golf Classic


Golf Pro and Minnesota native Tim Herron will highlight the 26th Annual Ben and Adith MIller Golf Classic at Cedar Valley Golf Course on Monday, August 8th. 

Special Track Meet


The 2016 Special Athletic Track and Field Competition, hosted by Winona Area Public Schools, will be take place on Friday, May 20th at Paul Giel Field.

Applications for grants from the 16th Annual B-K-5-K Road Race are being accepted through Friday, May 20th.

Winona High’s Derek Prenot will take part in the diving competition.  This is the third straight year he has taken part and he finished ninth last year
 

SMU's Seegers Named Player of the Week


Saint Mary's baseball player Joe Seegers has been named the MIAC Player of the Week after a strong break trip.  Seegers hit .438 during the Cardinals' first eight games and he scored nine times and drove in six.  Seegers had two hits or more in five of their eight games last week.  The Cardinals wrapped up their spring break trip going 8-2 after splitting a doubleheader with Mount Union on Monday.

WSU Rugby


The Winona State University women’s rugby club, the Black Katts, retained its title as the second team in the nation in the Division II National Final Dec. 6 at Furman University in Greenville, S.C.

In the semifinal game, the Black Katts faced Vassar Collegeand won 45 to 26 to advance to the National Final. The National Final pitted the Black Katts in an even match against Davenport University (Michigan), with a final score of Davenport 27, Black Katts, 22. The Black Katts have qualified for the Division II National Final Four for the past five consecutive years, competing in the National Final the last four years and claiming the national championship in 2013.
