The chairman of the Buffalo County Land Resources & Zoning Committee said he will not run for re-election to the Buffalo County Board.
Tom Taylor of Naples in rural Mondovi, declared non-candidacy well in advance of a December 1st start date for candidates to circulate nomination papers.
Taylor said his decision gave others time to consider running for county board office in District 3 that includes the towns of Naples and Dover.
All 14 seats of the county board of supervisors come up for election in April. Regular terms run two years.
Taylor said he was not running for another term for personal and health reasons, adding he had no regrets about his six years served in office over the past decade.
Taylor serves on the board's human resources and highway committees and led the county's zoning and land resources committee through a series of new ordinance amendments and policy procedures on mining in Buffalo County.
His exit from the county board in April might not be the last of Taylor's interest in public office.
In the future, Taylor said, he would consider running for the state legislature or countywide elected office in Buffalo County.
