Trempealeau County Crashes

The Trempealeau County Sheriff's Department released information Wednesday on two injury crashes that occurred last weekend.

Authorities said 52-year-old Sara Husmone of Blair was injured Saturday evening when the vehicle she was driving struck a horse on Highway 95 in the Township of Preston.

The Sheriff's Department said the horse had become loose at an event in Blair and was running down the highway when it was struck headon.

Husmone was taken to the Whitehall hospital to be treated for her injuries. The horse died at the scene.

The Sheriff's Department also said a 55-year-old Galesville woman was injured when she was struck by a vehicle early Sunday.

Authorities said Arlys Smith was walking in the parking lot at the Boondocks Bar and Grill when she was struck by a vehicle driven by 22-year-old Reed Knepper of Galesville.

Smith was taken to Gundersen Lutheran Healthcare in La Crosse to be treated. Knepper was cited for operating while intoxicated causing injury.
