Victim Notification

Victims who file temporary restraining orders against another party in Trempealeau County will now receive automatic notification that the order has been served on the person for which it is directed.

Sheriff Richard Anderson says the Wisconsin-VINE, automatic notification system has been activated in Trempealeau County.

Under the system, victims will receive the notification by telephone or by e-mail.

The system covers the automatic service throughout Wisconsin's 72 county jails and is seen as another valuable investment in personal and public safety.

The U-S Department of Justice says approximately 1.3 million individuals are victimized by domestic violence annually and an estimated 900,000 protective orders are issued each year.
