W-K Penny Competition

The W-K School's penny competition fundraiser for Superstorm Sandy victims last week was a huge success, raising just over 800 dollars.

W-K Student Council advisor, Emily Cassellius, says 3rd grade student Maddie Cone came up with the idea as a way to help the victims.

Cassellius says the fundraiser featured a competition between grade levels, so a 3rd grader might put pennies in their bucket for positive points and other types of money in buckets of other grades for negative points.

Cassellius says the Kindergarten class won the penny competition.

A check for just over 800 dollars, which was raised in just 4 school days, was presented to the local Red Cross during an all-school assembly held last Friday morning.
