Winona State University's Gender-Based Violence Program will receive the 2013 "Creating a Safer Community Award" given by The Women's Resource Center of Winona at 6 p.m. Tuesday, December 10th, at the Women's Resource Center.
The Gender-Based Violence Program is the result of efforts to improve campus safety and gender equality at WSU. The Gender-Based Violence Program currently has the GBV Helpline and works with students to become peer advocates.
Kent Russell, the Goodview Police Chief, will also be recognized as the individual recipient of the "Creating a Safer Community Award."
The recognition event is free and open to the public.
