Wabasha County Historical Society Grant



The Wabasha County Historical Society has received a $303,410 grant for complete a project involving the rehabilitation of the oldest surviving brick schoolhouse in Minnesota.

The grant funds, for the Reads Landing School building, come from the Minnesota Historical and Cultural Heritage Fund.

The Wabasha County Herald reports the work will include repairing such things as damaged windows and frames, repairing damaged brick, and cleaning the entire structure,

The work is set to begin next spring on the building that is on the National List of Historic Places.

The grant funds will go along with the nearly $40,000 the society raised in private donations for the project.
