Wabasha Feedlot Control

On a 4-to-0 vote, the Wabasha County Board of Commissioners has decided to turn back management of the county's feedlot program  to the state of Minnesota.

The program will be managed by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency according to the Rochester Post-Bulletin.

The action came Tuesday after the county was ordered in April by the Minnesota Board of Soil and Water Resources to return $115,000 within 60 days for grants that board claimed were mishandled by the county for two feedlots.

The money also included about $9,000 in investigative costs.

Interim County Administrator Michael Plante said the county has not yet decided how it will respond to that order.
