Wall Street running up behind St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fountain City is likely to remain closed until 2014.
Fountain City Mayor Peter Schaffner says that work on Wall St. wasn't in the budget plan for this year.
Limited capital for street and road maintenance has been a familiar theme for small towns with small tax base.
The Fountain City Council talked about other streets and roads that needed attention sooner than later if only the city had the money to do it.
But the city council did agree to advance plans for design work on Wall St. and hired Cedar Corporation of Menomonie, Wis., to plan a box culvert project for a drainage ditch that flows under the road.
A cave in of the old ditch covering led to the street closure months ago.
