Winona County-Healthy Balance

The Winona County Board of Commissioners Tuesday unanimously voted to partner with Winona Health to offer the Healthy Balance program to it's employees.

The county employees about 250 people and the one year program would cost the county about $9 per employee.

Winona County Administrator, Duane Hebert, says employees in the past have liked similar but smaller scale projects.

Commissioner Marcia Ward wondered, if in the future, the program could include employee’s families as well.

If all employees signed up for the program it would cost the county about $2,250 for the year. Hebert said a good goal would be 30-percent participation.

The county will pay for the program with tobacco settlement money designated to be spent on wellness and health programs.
