The Basics

The first step is determining what you want your site to accomplish. Will it simply serve as a fancy billboard or do you want it to become a major source of revenue? The second question is what are you willing to budget for this project. We feel that there are four basic types of web sites: Static Billboards, Dynamic Billboards, Database Driven sites and Storefronts. Our web packages reflect the needs of each type of site. Complete descriptions are outlined below.

Static Billboards
This is the most common type of web site. Typically you take your company information and produce a simple "billboard". This basic site may provide a description of your business, a list of products or services, phone numbers, your email address, hours of operation and perhaps a map. This type of content doesn't change very often (it may need updating only when you raise prices) and thus require minimal maintenance or additional cost beyond design, setup and hosting.

Dynamic Billboards
These types of web sites require daily or weekly updates of specific items. Good examples are the Real-Estate and Auto industry, they both need to change their listings on a regular basis. If you choose a Dynamic Billboard site, your two main concerns will be determining who will post new information and at what cost.

Database Driven
This type requires frequent updates of hundreds or even thousands of items, making them very difficult to maintain. To overcome this obstacle a database is used, that you or your employees update regularly via a custom web browser based interface. You might want to consider this type of site if you are, for example, an especially active real estate broker who processes dozens of new listings every week. Viewers can search for content. Be aware that it may require extra steps such as converting your existing data to a format that your web designer will be able to work with.

Storefronts
These type of sites are far more complicated than all the above sites. Storefront sites may rely on a database of your inventory, in addition to providing a secure server so that visitors can confidently purchase products or services online with credit cards or electronic cash. These complex E-commerce sites are also the most expensive to setup and maintain.
