Memorial Day Programs



Veterans Memorial Park will once again be the site of the 84th Annual Memorial Day program this coming Monday.
                 
The program in the Lake Park Bandshell begins at 10:30 a.m. and will feature guest speaker, and local historian, Lynn Englund.  It will also feature the Winona Municipal Band which will perform military anthems.
                 
In addition to the main program, individual ceremonies will be held at the VFW Monument, at the Lake Front to honor those who lost their lives at sea, and at the Memorial Shrine of the Crosses where wreaths will be placed on each cross.
                 
The main program will be broadcast live on KG Country 1380 AM.  

State Senator Jeremy Miller of Winona will deliver the Memorial Day address at Rushford's Memorial Day services on Monday. The services will be held at Rushford's Veterans Park also starting at 10:30 a.m. A Memorial Day service will be held in Peterson starting at 10:00 a.m.

In addition, brief individual programs and gun salutes will be held at 12 different cemeteries throughout Winona County Sunday evening.  The American Legion will perform the salutes at eight cemetaries starting at 4:30 p.m.  The VFW will perform salutes at four cemetaries also beginning at 4:30 p.m.
