Some 46 employees at the Rochester US Postal processing and distribution center are expected to be switched to a distribution center in Eagan early next year.
The Post-Bulletin reports the Rochester facility will be consolidated with the Eagan center and result in the Rochester center losing about half its employees. The consolidation is expected to save the Postal Service $3.6 million annually.
After the consolidation is completed the Rochster facility will still be used as a transportation hub for mail. Local overnight mail delivery to places like Winona is expected to be maintained but a spokesman told the paper it's still possible a delay to two days may may come in 2014.
