Winona County commissioners will be faced with a resolution next Tuesday to opt out of the 12 county Human Services Redesign plan.
During an update earlier this week, board members learned that if Winona County stays with the larger group it would be the only county to be in deficit spending by the end of the proposed 15 year agreement.
County Administrator Duane Hebert told Winona Radio News the larger plan presents a number of iniquities between the counties who offer a wide range of different services. Hebert also predicted the end product will involve fewer than 12 counties.
Winona County already shares a Human Services administrator with Fillmore county, and other neighboring counties could also join in. The board meets next Tuesday, June 12th, at 9:00 a.m. at the County Government Center.
