Weber Permit

The Buffalo County Zoning Board of Adjustment has authorized issuing a sand mining permit in the town of Dover.

The permit was issued to Gregory Weber for extraction of frack sand from agricultural zoned land off County Highway BB in Dover.

The board 3 to 0 approved a 5-year permit with option to apply for yearly extension renewals.

Weber applied for the permit in advance of a 7-month moratorium Buffalo County imposed on new or expanded sand mining permits in March.

The permit was issued along with 41 operating conditions restricting mining site conditions and hours of operation.

An engineer estimated it would take two months for the mine to become operational and employ an estimated eight workers on site.
