Plane Crash

A 40-year-old Durand, Wisconsin, man was killed Sunday morning when he crashed his ultra-light plane at an airstrip in northern Buffalo County.

Douglas Kadinger was piloting a single seat Ultra Lite aircraft at Durand Airport in the town of Maxville when it crashed during takeoff.

Kadinger was killed on impact, according to the Buffalo County Sheriff's Department. A witness reported the crash at 11:51 a.m. Sunday.

Buffalo County Sheriff Michael Schmidtknecht said FAA investigators were looking into cause of the crash.

Kadinger had purchased the single seat flyer only a few weeks ago, Schmidtknecht said. Weather conditions were sunny with mild breezes when the crash occurred.
