Affordable Care Act Upheld

Wisconsin Third District Congressman Ron Kind praised Thursday's decision by the Supreme Court to uphold the Obama administration's Affordable Care Act.  Kind says it means that 39,000 children in Western Wisconsin with pre-existing medical conditions can no longer be denied care.

Kind says that while “the law isn’t perfect...it takes significant steps to get costs under control and provides important patient protections."  He says "we must find a way to continue working together to build on the important reforms made in the Affordable Care Act and continue implementing the law.”

Meantime members of Governor Mark Dayton's cabinet also reacted to the ruling Thursday morning.  In a joint statement, the Minnesota Commisioners of Health, Human Services and Commerce called the ruling "an affirmation of the reform efforts currently underway in Minnesota to improve health and lower the cost of care."
