Rushford Council

Rushford City Council members this week halted plans to move city hall to the muni building and efforts to upgrade the library.

According to the Tri-County Record, the council closed the muni after several years of losses but cannot sell the building without repaying FEMA $870,000 in reestablishment costs. But it can lease it or use it for other public purposes.

Plans were developed to convert it to a city hall for $200,000. Engineering has been done and the conversion is ready for approval.

The majority of the council felt the city could get it done it for a lot less money.
