The unemployment rate in Buffalo County is running 5.4 percent, according to the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development.
                 
The jobless rate was down substantially from higher rates of 6.4 percent in March and 7.1 percent in February.

Statewide unemployment was at 6.8 percent in Wisconsin, about the same as it was at the start of 2012.  Unemployment was 7.6 percent a year ago in Wisconsin.

Projected high growth occupations through 2018 in Wisconsin were led by home health aides, data communication analysts, personal and homecare aides, financial examiners and ambulance personnel.

Top employers in Buffalo County were Marten Transport, Ltd, of Mondovi, Mondovi Public School, Dairyland Power Cooperative and Staffing Network Holding, LLC.
