County Land Sales

Land sales in Winona County continue to spike and County Recorder Bob Bambenek told the Winona County Board of Commissioners property transfers and mortgages are up in the first six months of this year.

Bambenek said a 14 acre site in Warren Township recently sold for just over $10,000 an acre.  He said a significant dairy farm sale occurred in late June northwest of Lewiston where the property remained in the same family and continued as a dairy farm.  Two larger land sales in Utica Township, sold for $1.2 million and $1.4 million...over $8,700 dollars an acre.

Bambenek said interest is also gaining in developing commercial areas along Interstate 90. A plat was filed in June for the new St. Charles commercial development.

Bambenek said during the first 6 months of 2012, 60% of the residential sales in the county were above the county's market values and homeowners have been able to refinance for interest rates as low as 2.75%.
