Farm2Rail

St. Charles area residents are being invited to a community informational meeting on the Farm2Rail proposal coming up on Wednesday, July 18th.

The session will allow residents to get an update on the proposal to convert 300-acres of land just east of St. Charles into frac sand and rail sites.

St. Charles Township earlier turned down a request to allow the site to be annexed into the City of St. Charles but other options exist.

Farm2Rail wants to build two circular 1-point-1 mile rail loops on the site and 14 industrial sites with rail access.

That could mean as many as 900 trucks per day hauling both sand and grain in and out of the site.

Residents are concerned about the traffic and environmental issues the development could pose.

The meeting will be held at the St. Charles Elementary School at 7:00 p.m. July 18th, and the public is invited.
