The Trempealeau County Sheriff's Department now says four people have been arrested in connection with a shooting that took place near Galesville early last Sunday. The fourth suspect was apprehended Wednesday night.
Sheriff Richard Anderson said shots were fired about 4:00 a.m. inside a trailer home after several people entered the home located four miles north of Galesville in the Town of Gale. Anderson said the assailants were looking for someone inside the home when they entered and three of the home's occupants fled when the others entered. No one was injured in the incident.
Three people were initially arrested and cited with felony counts of endangering safety by use of a dangerous weapon. They were identified as 22-year-old Armando Daniel Mercado Esparza of Genoa, Wisconsin, along with 22-year-old Ruben Garcia Palma and 34-year-old Gina Maria Garcia, both of Arcadia.
The fourth suspect, identified as Julio Jonathan Ramirez Espinosa was located in Jackson County and taken into custody Wednesday evening. He was also jailed in Trempealeau County.
Anderson said it's believed the incident was directed only at the occupants of the trailer home and that no others were being targeted. No reason for the shooting has been released.
