Winona City Council members will be asked Monday night to allow the city to accept a 600-thousand dollar grant for continuation of the Winona Core Neighborhood Rehabilitation program.
Winona is one of 31 cities across Minnesota to receive housing grants from the state.
The funds will be used for deferred loans to a minimum of 25 homeowners in the area between Lake Winona and the Mississippi River to help pay for improvements.
Community Development Director, Lucy McMartin, says there continues to be a waiting list with over 100 interested homeowners who would like assistance.
Also on the council's agenda is the approval of pay raises for part-time Winona firefighters. The agreement calls for the part-timers to receive a 3-percent raise spread out over 2012 and 2013....the same at the full-time firefighters.
Monday's meeting is at 6;30 p.m. at City Hall.....
