The Winona Chiefs amateur baseball team wrapped up the regular season Sunday with a 5-0 win over Pine Island. Jesse Van Brunt threw a complete game shutout giving up five hits while striking out nine. Brandon Beech had a pair of hits for the Chiefs and now has a hit in all 15 games that he has played this season. Arik Jacquart had two hits and drove three runs.

Winona finishes the regular season 16-6 and they tied for second place in the Twin Rivers League with a 14-4 record. Unfortunately Winona loses the tiebreaker against Hayfield and Zumbrota and the Chiefs will be the fourth seed in the Twin Rivers League playoffs. The Chiefs open up the tournament at home on Saturday at 2:00 against the Rochester Roadrunners.
