Winona State University's new president has quietly begun his new duties officially.
Scott Olson's first day on the job was Monday after he was formally named the university's15th president in mid-May.
Olson takes over for Judith Ramaly who served the university for seven years before retiring.
Olson comes to WSU from Minnesota State University-Mankato where he most recently served as provost and professor of communication studies. He has also served as an administrator at Ball State University and previously worked for the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system in the Twin Cities.
WSU spokeswoman Andrea Mikkelson said no date has been set yet for Olson's formal inauguration.
