Highway 43 Bridge

Officials with the Minnesota Department of Transportation will meet with federal government representatives on Monday to further discuss the highway 43 bridge project in Winona.

Project Manager Jai Kalsy said while the focus and a study has been on rehabing the existing bridge, construction of an additional new bridge will also be discussed.

Kalsy said the rehab study has not yet been completed but it may be impacted if a new bridge option is accepted.

Winona officials have asked that a separate new bridge also be constructed in addition to the existing bridge.

Earlier Minn-DOT narrowed the rehab options to three and Kalsy said the next step is to continue environmental considerations as well.

The bridge project is slated to get underway in 2014.......
