Police are still searching for suspects after a shooting early Sunday morning in downtown La Crosse.
WKBT TV reports the shooting has left one person in the hospital, recovering from non-life threatening injuries. The victim's name is Leon Hesser-Thompson. He was at a party when a fight broke out. At least two weapons were fired.
As the search continues for the shooters, some neighbors are still shaken by the morning's events. The station reported James Smizek thought the loud noises he heard around 12:30 a.m. could have just been fireworks.
Smizek said he heard multiple rounds of gun shots, followed by the footsteps of someone running through the alley by his bedroom window. Police are asking for the community's help to catch the suspected shooters.
The shooting victim, Hesser-Thompson, was in court in La Crosse County last summer. The 19 year old was sentenced to eight years probation and five months of electronic monitoring, after robbing two teens at gunpoint outside a La Crosse grocery store.
