Chiefs Lose Tough One to Stewartville-Racine in Playoffs

The Winona Chiefs lost a heartbreaker Sunday in the Twin Rivers League playoffs falling to top seed Stewartville-Racine 6-5 in eleven innings. The Chiefs led 5-2 heading into the bottom of the ninth and blew a chance to close it out giving up three runs in the ninth. The Sharks scored the winning run on a sacrifice fly in the eleventh inning.
The Chiefs beat the Rochester Roadrunners 6-2 in the first round of the Twin Rivers League playoffs on Saturday afternoon. Winona is now 17-7 on the season and they will face the Hayfield Heat on the road on Wednesday night in an elimination game. The winner moves on to the Region 5C tournament while the loser goes home for the year.
