Legislation introduced by First District Congressman Tim Walz and Representative Jeff Denham of California that makes it easier for veterans to find jobs using skills acquired through military training was signed into law by President Obama on Monday.
Earlier this year, Walz and Denham introduced the bill to address the unacceptably high rate of veteran unemployment by streamlining the federal certification process and cutting through the bureaucratic red tape, making it easier for veterans to utilize the skills they acquired in the military to find work at home.
Walz said the signing by the President marks a giant step forward towards promoting opportunity and prosperity for returning veterans, while at the same time improving the efficiency of government. Walz also said he was pleased that both parties were able to work together in bipartisan fashion to make this common-sense bill law of the land.
