Four out of the five candidates for Winona mayor had an opportunity to address Winona Chamber of Commerce members Tuesday during a candidate forum at the Riverport Inn.
One candidate, John Skalitsky, did not appear for the event which was attended by about 50 people. The remaining four candidates had a chance to answer questions that were posed by Joe Sherman, chair of the Chamber Public Policy Committee.
Mark Peterson cited his 30 years as director of the Winona County Historical Society and said that has prepared him for the job as mayor. Joyce Tlougan said her 33-year employment with Winona County in several capacities has brought her increased knowledge of the city.
Susan Hoghaugh said she will bring a different perspective to the mayor's office having grown up on a dairy farm. Current city councilman, George Borzykowski, cited his 4 terms on the council and his desire to represent the entire city.
Two of the five candidates will advance to the November election to see who will replace outgoing Mayor Jerry Miller who declined to see and fifth term.
