The Winona Chiefs amateur baseball team kept its season alive last night beating the Hayfield Heat in an elimination game in the Twin Rivers League playoffs 7-0. Jesse Van Brunt threw a complete game two-hitter while striking out twelve. Lance Jensen went 4-5 with 4 runs batted in to lead the offense. With the win the Chiefs have now qualified for the Region 5C playoffs, which begin August 4th. The Chiefs will travel to Zumbrota on Saturday and the winner of Saturday’s game will earn the fifth seed in the tournament while the loser gets the sixth seed.
